I was diagnosed in February 2021 with SSc, Systemic sclerosis with lung involvement. I had Raynaud’s syndrome eight years ago, and have always felt extremely tired.
Since 2019, my joints have become very painful, including swollen hands, headaches, and shortness of breath. The first time I saw a Rheumatology doctor was in January 2021, and I was diagnosed with Osteoarthritis, but still, something wasn’t right. After all the additional blood work was done I was finally diagnosed with Lupus and Scleroderma.
These diseases have really impacted my life. I quit teaching art classes for almost two years, tried to adjust to it, and learn about this disease. Finally, I adapted to my disease. My outlook has become more positive. I tried 2-3 months of nintedanib through a patient support program, but my body, unfortunately, cannot tolerate this drug.
To cope with my disease, I listen to meditation music, and look back at my paintings. My thought is I have a happy life and enjoy my artwork. I am so blessed to have a wonderful family and amazing students.
